On August 5, the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club held the 34th annual Frederick Women’s Distance Festival 5K at Frederick Community College. Many thanks to WGC grant recipient Frederick Community Foundation for providing/sponsoring the venue again this year! The runners love FCC as the race headquarters.

The race had a terrific turnout this year and the continued virtual option ensured that everyone could participate. With 639 registrants, the race size exceeded the previous record high set in 2019.

The Frederick Steeplechasers have donated the net proceeds of the 2023 race in the amount of $29,563 to the Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County - also a new record. Since 2010, the event has raised an impressive $237,176 for the Giving Circle. Each dollar helps a woman in Frederick County to become stronger.
