The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County is now an independent 501(c)(3) organization!
We are deeply grateful to The Community Foundation of Frederick County for their stewardship, their guidance, and the spirit of collaboration they have brought to this transition. For more than 20 years, the Women’s Giving Circle has called the Community Foundation home. That partnership has been foundational to everything we have built together. Thanks to the incredible support of the Community Foundation and the generosity of the Women's Giving Circle members over two decades, the Women's Giving Circle has grown into an organization with the strength, track record, and community standing to take this next step with confidence.
What This Means for You as a Member
The Women's Giving Circle's mission, as well as the sustained commitment to members and the broader Frederick County community, remains unchanged. The Women’s Giving Circle will continue to connect generous women with high-impact local organizations. Your membership and past contributions are very much part of that story.
Since the founding of the Women’s Giving Circle, gifts have been split between the pass-through fund, which supports current grantmaking and operating costs, and the permanent (a/k/a endowment) fund, which creates a perpetual funding stream for grants. As a part of this transition, the pass-through fund will be transferred in its entirety to the Women’s Giving Circle on or before June 30, 2026.
Effective July 1, 2026, members will make their contributions directly to the Women’s Giving Circle rather than to the Community Foundation. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all contributions to this new organization remain tax-deductible.
Here’s what you should know moving forward:
New online giving link: will be available at FrederickWGC.org on July 1st

Members with recurring gifts and outstanding pledges, as well as Pink Circle members who have designated the Women’s Giving Circle as the beneficiary of a legacy gift, will be contacted individually for any transfer or designation assistance needed.
The Women’s Giving Circle Endowment Fund will remain with the Community Foundation for now, and the Giving Circle will enter into a new agreement with the Community Foundation to continue managing the endowment fund. The Women's Giving Circle expects that the majority of the endowment fund will be transferred to the Giving Circle at a future date. In the meantime, the Women's Giving Circle is working with investment professionals to carefully evaluate long-term investment management options and determine the approach that best supports the organization's mission and ensures responsible stewardship of these permanent funds.
Looking Ahead
This marks an exciting new chapter for the Women’s Giving Circle, and as always, we want to keep members engaged and informed. In the coming months, the Women's Giving Circle will introduce new ways to get involved and celebrate everything this community has accomplished over 20 remarkable years. The Quarterly Luncheon on September 15th will be a special opportunity to recognize this milestone. Let’s celebrate together!
Thank you for being part of the Women’s Giving Circle. Your membership, your generosity, and your belief in this community are what make everything possible. We are so glad to be taking this next step with you.
