Ways to Give!

Ways to Give to the Women’s Giving Circle
Now that the Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County is an independent 501(c)(3), all gifts come directly to us. Here are the ways you can give, plus a quick look at the new federal tax rules that took effect in 2026.
By Check
Make your check payable to The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County and mail it to:
The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County 7820B Wormans Mill Rd, #103 Frederick, MD 21701
Online You can give securely by credit card at https://frederickwgc.org/donate. Choose a one-time gift, or set up a monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring gift.
If you had a recurring gift through the Community Foundation of Frederick County, it ended on June 30, 2026. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to set up a new recurring gift with us.
From a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
If you have a donor-advised fund, recommend a grant to us through your fund’s sponsor (Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, DAFgiving360, etc.) using:
Legal name: The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County
EIN: 39-4827442
Address: 7820B Wormans Mill Rd, #103, Frederick, MD 21701
Please let us know at treasurer@frederickwgc.org that a DAF grant is on its way so we can credit it properly.
From Your IRA (Qualified Charitable Distribution)
If you are 70½ or older, you can give directly from your traditional IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). A QCD isn’t counted as taxable income, and once you reach the age for required minimum distributions, it can count toward your RMD for the year. For 2026, you can give up to $111,000 this way.
To make a QCD, ask your IRA custodian to send the distribution directly to The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County (EIN 39-4827442) at our mailing address. The funds must go straight from the custodian to us, not to some other account first. Because custodians don't always include the donor’s name, please email treasurer@frederickwgc.org so we can identify your gift and send your acknowledgment. QCDs for the 2026 tax year must be completed by December 31.
Gifts of Stock Donating appreciated stock you’ve held for more than a year can let you avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation. For transfer instructions, contact treasurer@frederickwgc.org before initiating the transfer.
What’s New in 2026: Tax Changes That Affect Giving
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed in July 2025, changed the federal rules for charitable deductions starting in 2026:
If you take the standard deduction, you can now deduct up to $1,000 ($2,000 for married couples filing jointly) in cash gifts to charity. Gifts to donor-advised funds and gifts of stock don’t qualify for this deduction.
If you itemize, only the portion of your charitable giving that exceeds 0.5% of your adjusted gross income is deductible. For example, with an AGI of $200,000, the first $1,000 of giving isn’t deductible.
If you’re in the top tax bracket, the tax benefit of itemized deductions, including charitable gifts, is now capped at 35 cents per dollar.
QCDs are unaffected by the new floor and cap, because they’re excluded from income rather than deducted. That makes them an especially efficient way to give if you’re 70½ or older.
We’re not tax advisors, and everyone’s situation is different. Please check with your tax professional about how these changes apply to you.
